Tribute Project

These work came about after my researching the effect of trauma on community  as part of a potential PHD proposal.

A common response to a disaster regardless of cause is for people to mark a place, they create 'tribute mountains' of flowers.

This a a form of shared solidarity, of community, a place to reflect and show support.

I paint these mountains, the project is evolving,  I want these works to shimmer, my initial inspiration was Rarotongan  Tivaevae quilts, but the painting has changed, its looser, my connection with an idea which was political is now aesthetic
